YCLSA Statement on the remarks made by our Deputy National Secretary
The Young Communist League of South Africa (Ufasimba) has noted a video clip circulating in social media. Our Deputy National Secretary Cde Isaac Luthuli appears in the video clip addressing the gathering. His message comes across and has already been interpreted as alleging that President Jacob Zuma had a hand in the assassination of the former SACP General Secretary Cde Chris Hani.
The SACP has raised its concern with us about this video clip circulating in the social media. As the YCLSA, we categorically distance our organization the YCLSA and our mother-body the SACP from either the allegation or interpretation.
The call we adopted just after our re-establishment in 2003, and pushed consistently since then, for an official inquest into all the circumstances surrounding Cde Chris Hani's assassination exclusively motivated by the utmost importance to have full disclosure of the truth and for justice to run its full course.
We have taken the final decision to distance our organization after we watched the video clip and further engaged with our Deputy National Secretary. We want to further categorically state to our membership, structures and the public that we were not aware of such event as the YCLSA and we never deployed our Deputy National Secretary to that event. The event was addressed by our Deputy National Secretary outside our internal deployment system.
We further want to emphasize that in the YCLSA , there is a particular revolutionary conduct that is expected of the leader of the YCLSA, that distinguish us from any other organization. We call for discipline to our leaders and membership so as to continue to uphold YCLSA's leader's revolutionary conduct, YCLSA positions and decisions.
