YCLSA Statement On SABC Workers Mass Action
13 December 2017
The Young Communist League of South Africa (uFasimba) unconditionally supports SABC workers in pursuit of decent salaries, due incentives and proper working conditions.
It will always remain unjustiable for employers to prioritize profit over human life. And when such occurs, as it is the case at the SABC, where worker's interests are sacrificed at the altar of profit-making, workers must rise up and defend their rights.
The SABC is suppose to play a developmental role, and as such it should be ashamed of ill-treating workers who make it what it is against all odds.
It cannot be bussiness as usual when workers suffer the gratuitous violence of poor salaries, poor working conditions, and their perfomance pay outs being based on whether the company makes profit or not, while management salaries go up everytime irrespective of the companies' performance.
As the YCLSA we call upon the SABC management to heed the demands of workers and respond accordingly. But most importantly, we call upon everyone especially YCLSA structures around the country to join the workers mass action on Thursday, 14, 2017 in pursuit for what rightfully belobgs to workers.
