YCLSA calls on the PSL to postpone this weekend`s matches
30 October 2014
The Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] pleads with the Premier Soccer League [PSL] to reconsider its decision of not postponing the soccer matches scheduled for this coming weekend.
As the YCLSA we hold a strong view that this decision is denying both soccer players and fans the opportunity to properly mourn the late Captain of Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates, Senzo Meyiwa.
Senzo was the captain of the senior national soccer team and he has also represented the country at under 17, 20, 23 level. This mean he has played with many players who deserve to mourn his passing away properly. These players should be allowed to attend the funeral and to pay their last respects.
We plead with the Chief Executive Officer of the league Mr Brand De Villiers to postpone PSL and both streams [coastal and inland] of the National Football Division [NFD] Matches that were scheduled for this weekend. It is not too late to change the decision and allow the players to mourn this national hero.
Once more as the YCLSA we send our deepest condolences to the Meyiwa family, his colleagues, friends and all soccer loving people. We wish all of them all the strength they need to deal with these trying times.
